Heritage of Christian Music Project

I am writing these seminars/lectures on the following topics with a view to their being used in theological education - soon. Liturgical music is missing in that curriculum and is now being missed noticeably and causing comment. Several of us are working on the issue from various angles. They may run at St Johns Theological College, or preferably, via Auckland University Continuing Education. Time will tell. This will run alongside post-grad research. For the time being these more or less completed papers for non-musicians will be available here, until www.gillianlander.com is running, as I know people are interested.

Some of the sessions will involve more  practical class time than others, (eg that of #5 Gregorian today, and that on Mystery Plays which will involve a  full rare text and a recording which is copyrighted) so that notes here may not be as full.

Back to my homepages ** - Yep, already have a research topic. I have found three 'new' motets of the early 1400s that will need scholarly examination and editing for publication. This of course is the very period I will cover very sketchily with the above course. Music NEVER heard in church these days. But what a fascinating time.
